Calibre – best application to read your books.

I wrote about this application because I used often when I read books, programming books or documentation
Calibre is an open source e-book tool that allows you to:

      • organize your e-book library
      • convert e-books to various formats
      • interact with your e-book reader
      • Library Management
      • E-book conversion
      • Syncing to e-book reader devices
      • Downloading news from the web and converting it into e-book form
      • Comprehensive e-book viewer
      • Content server for online access to your book collection
      • E-book editor for the major e-book formats

Also can be used with Windows , Linux , Macintosh or calibre portable build can be run on any windows computer.

Using pdfimages – extracting images from pdf file

We can use the linux command tool pdfimages to extract the images from the pdf file pages.

To extract all image we can use this:

The your_input.pdf is your pdf file.

The images-out it’s the output name of the images.

The images will be save with the name image-out like :

We can select the images just from pages we want by using option:

This tell to extract just from starting page number: -f to ending page number -l.

If the pdf file is password locked than we can pass the password using the option -upw.
